September 10, 2007

Attendance: Pat Botteron, Louise Evans, Jim Snow, Roy Normen, Herb Asplund, Marcia Banach, Betty Osborne, Carol Heffler, Sue Larsen

Chairman Pat Botteron called the meeting to order at 5:33 p.m..

The minutes of the June meeting were accepted.

New Business:

Louise Evans nominated Pat Botteron as Chairman and Sue Larsen as Secretary of the Task Force.  The nomination was seconded and the vote was unanimous.  The Task Force decided against a vice chair since the group was small and Pat could appoint a temporary chair if she is unable to attend the meeting.

Pat Botteron reported she received a telephone call from the owner of addressStreet99 Main Street about selling land to the town and then renting it back for therapeutic use.  Pat told her to write a letter to the Town Manager.  At a previous meeting Pat told the Task Force about property on addressStreetClark Street that Councilman John Pelkey thought would be a possibility for open space.  Pat reported the property has been sold and there is an application for a subdivision in process.

September 14, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. was agreed upon for a site walk on the proposed subdivision open space on addressStreetBarber Hill Road.

The rating will be done with the new and old sheets in order to insure the changes in the rating form will not alter the decisions in a manner not intended.  In walking the property we should consider the Christmas trees on the property and mowing.

Discussion on the criteria for bringing potential properties to OSTF was tabled until Mike Gantick could attend the meeting.

Old Business:

Louise Evans reported on the Historical Society presentation of the Working the Land DVD on Sept. 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Friends Room at the S.W. Library.  We are co-sponsoring the program so Louise hopes there will be a good turnout from the group.  It should last about 1 ¾ hours.  Mike Gantick donated his copy of the DVD to the library.

Pat Botteron thanked all the members for the outstanding fruit basket.

It was agreed to put up a booth at Heritage Day on October 6, 2007.  Rain date is October 7, 2007.  Marcia Banach said she could take the tent and the banner back to the town hall after the event.

Tentative Schedule:     Herb , Carol    9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
        Betty O.        10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Pat Botteron reported that the Town had attempted to partner with LL Bean to purchase the addressStreetKing Street property. LL Bean viewed the property but it was too small for their purposes.  Foster Farm is still a critical piece of property. The Task Force needs to further educate the Town Council about the benefits of development rights .

The meeting was adjourned at 6:45.

Respectfully submitted,

Sue W. Larsen
